Job: Site Reliability Engineer

Company: DotCloud

Location: San Francisco, CA

Status: Accepting Applications, please Apply

Description: The Company:
DotCloud makes it simple and easy to deploy your applications to the cloud. We're a 2nd generation Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) designed from the ground up to support any combination of language, database, and middleware. With a single command, in just a few seconds your application is deployed, seamlessly running across multiple data centers. In the last 12 months we've raised $10 million in funding, grown our user-base dramatically, and consistently host tens of thousands of virtual machines.

The Role:
The Site Reliability Engineer is a developer that automates the heck out of the services that power DotCloud's infrastructure -- deployment, networking, databases, monitoring, etc. You are forward thinking and "lazy", constantly thinking about how to replace or eliminate the need for manual labor with scalable, durable systems.

Not in San Francisco? Not a problem! Telecommuting is an option for this role.

Requirements:
* Proficiency in Python application development (aka a developer, not a scripter).
* Demonstrated experience building and deploying scalable cloud systems.
* Can do SQL and NoSQL database performance tuning and disaster recovery.

Bonus Points For Experience With:
* Automation and deployment tools -- Puppet, Chef, Capistrano, etc.
* Knowledge of software to cloud via APIs -- EC2, SoftLayer, private cloud, etc.
* Provisioning virtual servers using Xen or KVM.

Stuff To Look Forward To:
* Setting the standard. DotCloud is the most sophisticated PaaS offering on the market.
* Cool projects. We're constantly prototyping, tinkering, and building new things. For example, one of our developers is giving a talk about one of our internal tools at PyCon 2012.
* Financial strength. DotCloud is backed by tier 1 investors -- Benchmark Capital, Trinity Ventures, Ron Conway, and many more!
* Growth opportunities. We have a lot of projects in the works, and we'd love for you to be able to grow into one of our leadership roles.
* Perks:
- Benefits, paid time off, stock options
- Team lunches and company trips
- A full pantry complete with delicious coffee
